168k part ?

#1

Post by MommaG »

The picture in the Marsh Collection has a covering over the mantels thena parchment shade. What is that called? It was made of mica if I got it right.

Mica score.jpg
Like the one on the left that hangs from the shade?

Anything that protects the shade will work and nobody will globe shame you if you don't use a vintage mica globe.

That is the part that I was looking for name off. From your comment it can be substituted? As for globe shaming LOL. I just want to run and use them safely. I have to order parts for the CQ so any parts I can get I will order at once. That is its only missing part.

I love the parchment look! So 355 globe any others that will work? Just want to know what to look for. Shipping into Ontario from the States is pricey so I want to get the right thing. I am so in love with Loretta and Jeannie. In a year I went from not knowing something existed to having not just one. They are the most beautiful things. The glow, the sound, the smell! I run them alot. I have found that not all mantels are created equal either. Some are much brighter. She has a glass shade but I love the parchment.

probobly depends on the manufacture date of the lamp wether it came with mica or pyrex globe . the mica is early , it has 3 hooks and just hangs from the lamp shade spider or legs .

Corey with that style holder you're setup for a glass shade. If you're wanting to run a parchment style you will either have to build/buy some 220 globe holders or find some for the 355 style. Nothing wrong with running a glass shade on your 168... Might be a little top heavy is all

I ran the globe off of a Northstar lantern on my 152 lamp until I could find the correct 355 replacement globe.

She is at that. I seen the one in the collection and again I assumed it was the wrong thing on her. The glass shade I love but I worry when I take her camping mostly because she is a bit heavy on top so I hang her.

So while looking at shades what is opinions on a mica lamp shade? Comprise on look and function maybe? It looks more like the parchment shade but if it is mica I am wondering if I could just then have the shade?

I would need to see your hanging rod you mentioned, but I believe most were the same.

Reproduction mica pieces? Like this?

Or the mica shades like these?
