Another AGM Question

#1

Post by Phredd »

I got the AGM 3026 (Sears) working. But it only runs for about 10 min before it starts to dim. Add pressure and it brightens up. There are no leaks in the fount or any of the connections or the check valve.

I'm thinking maybe the spring in the main valve may be weak - and it does'nt fully switch from air/fuel mix to just fuel when the valve is all the way open?

Thoughts?

Quite possible. I make it a habit to give the little spring--on any kind of FA system--a bit of a stretch when I have it out.

Are you opening the valve all the way to stop?

Yes opening it all the way.

And the spray bottle is a good idea. I put a new gasket in the filler cap - but your never can tell... And it is much easier than taking the valve apart, again....

Your air bleed-tighten the valve in the open position (lightly).

MajicWrench wins the prize!! There was a very tiny leak from the cap for the valve (the one with spring inside). So i cleaned up the seat and the cap and tightened it down...and... it works wonderfully.

Also a put a Peerless 24A on it! Nice and bright.
