does anyone know why a Milspec lantern would not have the production date stamped on the bottom of the fount? did they stop doing this somewhere along the line--maybe in the 80s?

I've never seen one without a date.

Who was the manufacturer?

Agreed. Is it rusty making it not visible maybe?
My friends don’t call me “Lantern/lampie Levi” for nothin’,if they did call me that.
Looking for bday lanterns 8/38, 8/41,
10/25, and 8/07

Please post some pictures.

I've seen a couple here and there that didn't get a date stamp. The later SMP's have all sorts of oddities. That's due to crappy manufacturing in my opinion. Otherwise I had an Armstrong that didn't get a date stamp and a couple Colemans.
