I D lantern

#1

Post by MiguelHerbert »

Just picked this lantern up at a second hand store for $15.

Can anyone I D for me? Dates on the bottom are very hard to make out, but looks like a 3 to the right and a 2 to the left?
Nothing discernible on the collar.

Late 220B. Can't make out the year, but given that it is painted, 1941-1943.

I'm thinking its a 2 or a 3 on the left (year, 42 or 43) and an incomplete 8(Aug) on the right.

Just made out a very hard to read U S stamped well above the rising sun.
What is this about--one provided to the military in the very early stages of the war?

Could not get to show in a photo.

War time, where sales were restricted to essential services.

Thank you!
