Fount color 1942 220b lantern

#1

Post by MiguelHerbert »

Recently got this 1942 220b lantern. Is the blueish tint of the fount due to aging? The color is noticeably different from the top hat. Or, is this variation in color the way these lanterns were produced?

The early green was lighter in my opinion but not much blue. could be a repaint.

I’ll dig out and do a side by each of my late painted B vs some others shortly.

Thank you!

To me a lamp without a shade is creepy!

Just looked at mine and it is standard early (dark) green. Matches the vent.

It looks like the correct green near the collar and blue paint near the bottom. I'd take a good strong light to it, the paint might be obvious.

I've got a few like that, all from the same source, the guy painted them with something that seems like a semi transparent blueish stuff
