200a valve stem packing question

#1

Post by Will »

Ok, I have a 8/79 200a that the graphite packing was shot. Cleaned it out and put in a new packing. It only had one ring on it. Do I need a fat ring also? It was not on there when I took it off. That fat ring came from my parts bin. I've seen it on other lanterns with 2 rings. Don't want to f-this up.

Nope. You just need the stop ring with the bevel facing towards the valve seat. The packing will mash inside the packing nut. The second ring you have pictured would be correct for a 220 style valve.
