Early 242 pump cup assembly

#1

Post by major_man »

Has anyone had success in taking apart the early pump cups where they’re all 1 piece?

I have a 242k with a pinned pump rod, the pump leather is long gone but can seem to get the assembly apart to put the new cup on.

Any suggestions out there are greatly appreciated

I looked at ocp and they don’t seem to have them anymore so thinking I need to take mine apart

Thanks
William

William message Steve Retherford. He'll have what you need. But yes I have disassembled them to install a pump cup, but it will never be as the factory would've done it.

when you say 242K i have to think Canadian ? my cups fit most all of these right out of the box but there are a few canadian pump shaft that were made a bit different from USA ones , if its one of these a slight modifacation is needed to the pump cup center brass piece with a small rat tail file to fit perfectly . it will need a tapered hole not a straight thru hole for those .

check your pump shaft ? if you want one PM me .

Steve’s work great! I took a drill press to my original captured pump cup and wallowed it out enough to separate everything. The screw held everything together, but Steve’s cups worked great. Didn’t bother messing with the other two original pump cups. I have the remnants somewhere in my parts…

BTW- Swedish and German stoves use similar captive grommet/washer cups in 14/15mm size. Made these for my German Enders stoves . The Optimus and Primus cups come with screw apart grommet which makes for easy cup replacement in 14/15mm size.
