Coleman 220C

#1

Post by Ryan1650 »

Just picked up a 220c today. It came in a 1970s box and it has a 5/70 fount on it. Also has a coleman shipping label on the box like it had been repaired. Steel fount now. It seems to have the late pressed brass burner also. Is this a normal thing?

Pictures would help here. No C's made after 1947 that I'm aware of.

You need to resize the photos down. I use an app on my phone called Snapseed. ( I can't remember the size dimensions)
You can also check the FAQ page, I think it has helpful ideas on resizing.

"How do i post photos?"

On my android phone, when I email the picture to my email account, a size option appears. Selecting the 25% option usually gets the picture down to the forum size.

Yep, looks like someone had a problem with their 220C and sent it to a Coleman service center for repair. If you want to replace the newer fount place an ad in the classified section.
Me, I would run it as is. It has an interesting story.

Im going to keep it how it is. Just an odd one to add to my collection and only paid 10 bucks for it. It burns really well.

That's a late model of 220C with the pressed-brass mixing chamber--'46, maybe '47. Be gentle with the vent ball nut--the vent studs are notorious for pulling out of the thin brass mixing chamber.

The fount has been replaced. I wonder what happened to the original?

I will keep that in mind. My best guess is there was a problem and it was sent back to coleman and the fount was replaced. They most likley fixed the issue and sent back with a new fount, and kept the brass one.

Some of the "C"s had stress cracks in the founts..
