Lateral slop on tipcleaner lever

Post by Willy »

Working on the Model 129 kerosene lamp, and I've found a 220 E-block seems to fit. There is a slight amount of lateral movement in the tip cleaner lever, not enough to disengage the e-block, guessing less than 1/16 inch. Is this a foreboding of leakage coming through this point? Would adding a narrow strip of graphite ribbon to either or both ends of the existing graphite packing be a good idea?
Thanks all

Should be no problem as long as the cleaning lever doesn't bind or pricker engagement suffer.
