220D Collar differences

#1

Post by Phredd »

I made a mistake when fettling two 220Ds at the same time. I did not notice that there are differences in the collars. One lantern is a B-48 Nickle and the other is a A-51 with a green painted fount.

The photo shows the differences. The imprint on one is lighter, the dot dash pattern is not near it, and the hole for the valve is too the left. The other has a deeper imprint within the space of the dot-dash pattern and has the valve hole to the right.

Any one know which one belongs on which lantern??

The collar with the wide space on the right for the model stamp goes on the ‘51.

L.J. got it. Early D's had the stamp left of the valve wheel, late had them to the right.

When in doubt, look at your 220E's. You'll see the pattern that they switched sides and stuck with it through the F.

I did exactly the same thing with two 200As recently. I was meticulous to keep the parts separate, but still managed to mix up the collar.
