Camp oven ID?

#1

Post by Coldwaterpaddler »

I was out at an antique place today and spotted this oven. The design on the front made it seem older, but it looks like a Coleman camp oven internally.

Pretty sure it doesn't have any way to fold down either. Any ideas who made this?

Don’t know anything about it , but I’ll bet it’s from the the late 40s early 50s. The stamping on the sheet metal reminds me of Art Deco

It's not a folder, so probably not a camp oven. More likely one meant to be used on a propane, coal or wood stove. I know where a double-size one is, at ridiculous price, which hasn't changed in eight years.

If you have the room, it's actually a bit insulated, so likely works better then a folding camp oven. Just bulkier to transport. It would have had a glass (Pyrex) or mica window.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

I haven't folded up my Coleman one in years, I just store stuff inside it when I go places.

That would be so mine if I saw it.....you could certainly point out the missing window.......two racks, good stuff....

Seems to be in decent shape, Steve; it shouldn't be too hard to get a sheet of mica for the window.

I might need to drive back over there this week just to take a closer look at it. Thanks for the info.

I did some online research and also went back and looked at it today. It's supposed to have a glass window. There's not a single marking on this thing other than on the thermometer. I guess they weren't very proud of it???

It's pretty cool, but not worth $70 to me.

Google search Milcor Oven or look on Ebay. The similar looking Milcor Oven was made by Inland Steel Products Co. has a 1940 Patent Date to Milcor.
Had this unmarked cool looking oven which I never used because inside its double wall construction it had that 'white fuzzy board material'. Not sure what it was, but my Coleman works fine. It has new owner now and sold for about what they are selling that one for.

I just found an oven yesterday that is similar. It doesn’t fold, has 2 glass windows and 2 shelves. There are no manufacture markers in any of the metal, however the thermometer is marked “Barclay Manufacturing Co. Munceie Ind.” The only thing I can find is a company in NJ that made metal toys mostly cast. Nothing on sheet metal products or ovens. The vendor that I purchased from called it a pie warmer. Have seen similar Milcor but windows run opposite direction.
Has anyone seen something like this around, or can shed any light on manufacture or date.

Cheers

Could it be an early BOSS oven? The hardware on it reminds me of my BOSS oven. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
