No visible date, appears to be unfired, ceramic burner cap, nickel plated generator, large rising sun (etc.) stamp on back of fount, made in U.S.A... tin coated fount base, I figure it's a '55?

The polar opposite of Standahl's is my beater 55 1. Ceramic burner and no blobby tin on the bottom. Ugly as all get out, but a good runner. Like the one legged cage? E.

From a just-completed eBay auction that went for big bucks...

Coleman 202 Professional Lantern with Factory ERROR – Collector Condition

I have a Coleman 202 Lantern that is in very good condition.

The ventilator only has minor marks with one small chip – SEE PHOTO

The tank has the “Sunshine of the Night Logo” with a “4-58” Date & the bottom a “1-58” Date.

That is a Very RARE factory misprint.

Saw that. Rare? I have one and recorded several more. I didn't want to burst his bubble. I'm just surprised he didn't call it antique.

I have a 10-63 with no date on the bottom.

I also have a 12-58 side date with a 58-1 bottom. Go figure that one out. Those two pieces were either made 11 months apart or they back dated.

Mine appears to be identical to StanDahl's. No date, ceramic burner, tall green vent, green sunrise globe, bottom of the fount is tinned, logo embossed on back of fount.

Mine is also 5/55 and just like Backstrapfever said above the fount is non magnetic and the bottom buffed out like stainless steel would, is this possible, did they use SS on the bottom plate?

My 202 fount only is dated 1-61 on the side.Of the other 2 one is undated with ceramic cap and the other is a 5-55 on the bottom only with ceramic. Both the '61 and the undated founts have a B stamped along the outer perimeter of the bottom plate

Not sure if you're still collection information on the 202s but I just got one. It is my first junker find. Still rebuilding her.

It is dated on the side of the fount 1 60

Only thing on the bottom is the “B”

burner cage is non magnetic on the bottom and the two supports but the top is steel.

Bail is steel.

But I have a question. Other web pages list the 202 made 1954-1964. I did not see any one listing a 1964 202 here. Anyone have an official production dates list for the 202? Will my hope for finding a 5-1964 be broken before my eyes?

EDIT

In the forum thread all I see is 2x10-62 and 2x10-63 Wonder if the coleman only ran a 202 assembly line on certain month.

1 60 on the side. I also found a 202 with 50 12 on the bottom, must have had a replacement fount put on it.

I have twins. Both marked 7 61 on the back side of the fount under the Coleman logo. Both have a "B" stamped on the outer rim of the base plate.

As expected on a 1961, the burner caps are brass.

Funny, I thought I read it once.

Hello
Were 202s only made in Wichita, Kansas?
Or were they produced in Toronto as well?

#1(L) - No stamp on the side, bottom is steel. The coating on the bottom is very thick and covering any marks. Has a ceramic burner cap

#2(R) - Stamped 10-62 on the side. Bottom is non-magnetic with only a small "B" stamp.

202x2.jpg

While checking these over with a magnet, I realized the one on the right doesn't have a SS bail. [frown]
