I doesn't look like carbide to me, but I have never
seen a burner like that before, looks kind of like an Alladin
style.

Alcohol makes sense. A carbide mantle lantern would be super cool though. Neat find regardless!

Wow, and it's an alchy. Looking forward to seeing it running.

I have one of those 1910-ish alcohol chaffing dish style alchy stoves maybe a Landers & Frary Clark. I got it running and it will kick out some flame.

Agostino,
I think it's a Tito Landi #20. I have one myself among many others.
Be careful when you unscrew the burner. The thin copper pipe where the burner screws onto is only 0.3mm thick. This is easily twisted and breaks if the burner is stuck in the fount.
I've repaired several and completed them with shades etc.
A good source for information (in French) is Michel's site in France
HERE are some of mine.
Good luck.

Uuuuh a very nice and a bit rare Tito Landi stable-lantern. And in good shape to considering it is made of metal.

Here is a good site for you : http://www.lumieredeloeil.com/lumiara/en/titusen.htm

Titos gives a good light wihtout pressure-problems ? and they even came with doubleburners.

To me they are some of the funniest lamps to fix.

Note your lamp could be a gasoline or a alcohol lamp depending the burnertype.
Thanks

Ago, since this will be the only Tito Landi fettled on this site (maybe?) I'd appreciate a few pics and description of events if you could.

This lantern has given me the third Holy Grail to seek.

taking it apart and cleaning it up was pretty easy for somebody that has been working on GPA
The gas tip is clear
I still need to figure out how to light it the proper way and find a mantle for it.

I will try a few things this afternoon

You dont have to be able to read this german PELAM FORUM-link, as the pictures should say it all. When you use a mantle on a Tito then be sure it is open in the top. The best is of course a upright mantle, but you can adapt normal 200 cp mantles for the Tito. Again make sure it is open in the top.

https://www.pelam-forum.de/thread/17536-aladdin-glühstrümpfe-oder-wie-back-ich-mir-einen-tito-landi-glühkörper/?pageNo=2

Pelam-forum is a very very nice forum where clever guys makes a lot of experiments without being reckless.

It seems that you must copy the link and set it in the WWW-slot to make it work.
Thanks

Wow, just wow Agostino.

You put some work into that. Just to get it running without break or bending parts was the trick in my opinion.

What's the next step?

My suggestion...use a 24A and put a small slit in the bottom. Slip it over the burner and tie it off at the top.

Maybe?

Thanks for the idea.
i tried that and it breaks apart.
I need to keep the upper part open and
a few centimetres away from the burner.

I saw this idea on another website
It might work.

So, kind of a Vapalux/Bialaddin/Tilley approach. Could work.

Great work on yours
Love the globe!

Your Tito landi 20 as a fuel valve
,mine doesn't.
Also ,the parts and overall model are not similar.
Im wondering if this is a Tito?

Maybe an earlier model ,export....

I doubt that it is for alcohol. The jet seems way to small for that on your pictures, and you said over at CPL that you had some problems with getting a blue flame until you removed the gas tip.

So did you try it on gasoline after my question there?

Here's the difference between an alcohol jet and a gasoline ditto for two different Tito Landi´s:
1402602833-munstycken.jpg

I'm not sure about the exact dimensions, but the jet for alcohol is extremely large with a diameter of around 0.8 mm while the gasoline version is atleast half that size in diameter. Perhaps around 0.3 mm.

And for mantles I just use any standard narrow gaslight mantles after removing the frame and lower retainer so you can hang it directly at the fork on the remaining little wire at the top of those mantles.
Aladdin is what I use:
Vintage-NEW-OLD-STOCK-Aladdin-Gaslight-Mantle-IOB.jpg

It's worth getting going well since it make a decent and almost silent light:

thanks for the detailed pictures and information
Michel in France also confirmed it's a gasoline model
the filler sponge like material in the fount is unique to gasoline models.
I will try to get an Aladdin mantle or try to set up something here at home

Thanks for the info
A few other collectors confirmed it a Tito Landi model 20
it definitely might be an earlier or later model ,may be an export model .
I'm not sure

Michel confirmed that the burner and fount are definitely Tito Landi.
I have several hot blast lanterns ( German and French)
with the same type of globe guard.

For those of us unfamiliar with the history of Tito Landi:

"The Titus-Lamps were made by Augusto Tito-Landi (1873-1947), a Spanish citizen from San Sebastian living in Paris. The lamps were offered from 1898 until the company closed down in the 1970s. They are very common in France, but you must have some accessories if you want to have them in functioning condition."

Yes Agostino, Peter from Lampenkueche in Germany showed this photo and there is more here:

I just stole a single to show here. Photo comes from a 1964 french movie "Le journal d'une femme de chambre" (A maids diary).
