Hello Jeff
What fantastic images!
I notice that some, appear to have been or may be slighty cropped - another words, the documents "place of origin" i.e. Toronto, Whicita or UK, abd printing date code, has been cropped..
What "Canadian Toronto" pamphlets (for stoves, lanterns, or general appliances) from the 1920s - 1960s do you have access to???
Doron Papo has some very interesting ones on his site in Coleman/Product literature...
They have shown stoves such as the 1938 "2H Life Guard" that "we" have never seen....yet.
Do you have any ones (product paperwork) from different years...?
Scouters Angus and Jan, are putting together a Canada Toronto stove timeline... and any original documentation might enlighten us all...
Cheers

I've seen the term "makes it's own gas" used a few times in the old adverts....what do they mean?
I think they are referring to the vaporized liquid fuel as "gas", like natural gas is commonly called now. (Sorry Bart I didn't see that you beat me to it :-)
We used to call them "Gas Lanterns". I always thought that meant gasoline, until I signed on here and was corrected.
If you take the hood off a petromax you can see the jet while it is running. You can hear it, but you cannot see anything coming out of the jet. Gaseous kerosene. And of course the name "generator" means liquid goes in, gas comes out.

2 Coleman adverts.
I recently acquired the original advertising art work in the form of an oil painting from which the latter pics were developed.
