Table of Providence AGAIN!

#1

Post by grob »

Went to town for some stuff and grub and stopped by the ARC Thrift store. There was a hippie in a wheel chair with a familiar looking green box in his lap, so I kept an eye on him. He dropped it off in sporting goods, so I figure he worked there. Went over and it was not a stove, but a Coleman Table for $7!!! YES! Been wanting one and they are not known for this kind of stuff.

Way cool... a little scratched up, but all there, sans stools. Came real close to dualling as a case for my 3H stove, but no. Decal is worn too, but i think I will just leave it alone and use it. A bit of providence that he set it out just as I walked in, or that it was there at all. Circa early 1950s. No reg mark on the logo.

Awesome find and score!
I had a chance to get one at the Hillsville flea market a couple of years ago but didn’t feel like carrying it around for five hours and several miles of walking. Hopefully your journey wasn’t to far on foot 🤣

Don't know, but I think they were sold separately. Don't look none to comfortable anyway. I go for my directors chair and rocker.

You have impeccable timing Gar! Congrats on a great score. I found one just like that with the wire handles in a unique little town years ago at a city wide garage sale. That 426A will look good on the table!

Nice chairs, did you reweb the rocker?

Bravo grob. Nice score!!! After doing some research here awhile back using the search function I believe they were sold both ways. They could be purchased with the stools or separately. They are a great Coleman addition.

Thanks eveyone. Here is some of the stuff I got in it so far. The high stove stand barely fits. Fuel cans, maybe not, but they fit. There is a bolt welded to the bottom to hold the legs. I put a big washer and wing nut there.
Mark, ya the 426A matches perfect. Second re-web on the rocker last summer. Dad's mid 50s directors chair.
Dave, Bart posted an old link to the table and stool thread. Thanks, I could not find it.

Went to town again for some stuff and stopped by the ARC Thrift store. Gotta check out 50% off seniors day... nothin'. On the other side of town I stop in at the Habitat ReStore and here sits this table. Was heavy so could it have stools... Yes! The price was not as 'reasonable' as the other, but at $45 with stools, still was coming home. 3 of the large stools and missing a foot, but OK. A few scratches on top and the canvas will need redone at some point. You could really end up with a grooved bum sitting on these things. Might turn one into a COLEMAN ROCKET BOX! Turn 2 into a bench with a board. Circa 1957 to the early 1960s, metallic green.

Both of those are in better shape than the best of my two--and both have handles!

I have a metallic, too, but it's seen better days. Missing the handle, of course.

OK, a moment ago a friend shows up and gives me this Sheridan pellet gun. Bolt action, pump. Can't get the safety off and it is 20 Cal? (5mm). I thought they they were 17 or 22 Cal. Well needs a little work, but hey, what a day! It was a friend of a friends and did not want it. To Google.
Gar

Hey Mark, Thanks and do you have 2 feet? One is cracked and falls off.

Toby, you never know, I might not need 2.

Timm, Might find handles in junk stores. These might be some generic old ones from suit cases and such.

Thanks Joe, Yes a weird, but good day and finally got my money back from UPS for a smushed poster. Got work done on my 33 220B no brim too.

Thanks LJ, Rob and SeaBee. The difference is first one has the legs fit in slots and tighten with thumb screws and the new one, the legs fold down and lock in place, so handier.

Mark, Cool, have to put your metallic 220 on it.

Hey Ken, thanks, the Habitat ReStore sometimes has a beat 425G for cheap or something, but this was the mother load for them. The first price tag I saw on it said 0.00, but alas no. Ya just never know what lurks. The Shadow do! Gar
