My wife’s says I’m like an old lady! Pretty sure this is dated 1973. After I acquired a GPA Pineapple shade I figured this one needs a proper home. It’s pieceD together from a couple of lamps.

Just because I needed to install a new sump pump for my 82 year old father. I haven’t entered their house since sometime in February.
I took the time to track down one of my grandfathers Bernzomatic torches and my grand uncles Daisy Model 25. Surprisingly it’s loaded.
Good news I didn’t shoot my eye out!
The interesting story about the model 25 is he was suffering dementia and neighbors were complaining he was shooting a rifle on his back porch. He had seven acres but was surrounded by neighbors with 1/5th of an acre lots. Mom saw it and snatched it thinking it was his lever action Winchester.She is anti gun after one of uncles inadvertently killed his brother while hunting back in the thirties before she was born. Uncle Joe was the youngest of his brothers born in 1902. Owned a hardware store from the mid thirties till he closed it in the early sixties. Was a spry old man up until he went quickly downhill in 87-88. We had spent Memorial Day, July Fourth and Labor Day at his place until 1987. He was a mans man. I’m glad to own his Model 25. Unfortunately the Winchester was given to the police and was lost forever. A couple years later they said it was destroyed. OK I’m sure that happened.

I've always wondered about those pumps with that style handle... Are they a positive shutoff? Appear as if they would be. The little Daisy and heater are nice as well Kevin.

Toby nice slantern. I’m unsure on the shutoff it’s my first torch so it’ll be fun. I’ll probably do some research before I light it inside.

Grandpa had tools, there’s another torch floating around and a couple handfuls of irons. He was a captain in the fire department and was a handyman. Never met him though, he ended up with brain cancer so bad it protruded from his head. Somewhere I have his old fire helmet. Sadly we played with it as kids.
My dad talked about him asking how much money he needed to go to college and he was a few hundred short his final year. Grandpa pulled a box of money out and handed it to him and dropped him off at the train to Michigan.

Give it a good long preheat... Or you will find out why they call them a blow torch

Your grandpa sounds like he was the real deal. Thanks for sharing his story. If only we had more like him today.

I love it when all they need is some neatsfoot oil and CF. Found it back in October at a antique store. First one of these I’ve seen in my area. Has been kept well over its lifetime. Came with a older coarse weave mantle that had already been burned in. No logo on the mantle. Has a Macbeth Thermo globe with no lighting hole which I’ve been told wouldn’t be correct. I can live with that though. It’s a treat to light and love hearing it hiss away.

I have a couple of antique floor standers with agate bases that can be lit up. One is (great night/footlights), and also a table lamp that, when I got it, had been paint with white house paint. I stripped that off (Used simple green) and It's waiting it's turn for getting re-wired and the base light installed.

As a nightlight the base is nice but I’d like to rewire it so you can turn the switch from night light model to off Vs turning the top on, then both on to off.
