Inspection Stamp

Did Coleman put an Inspection Date Stamp or some kind of Inspectors Stamp on lantern and stove boxes when they were shipped from the factory? I've got a 502 dated 12/80 that has a stamp on the carton top of INSP 031 111. Trying to figure out if Coleman put it there or the retailer did it.
