New favorite?
The Local antique store has been trying to find some Coleman stuff for me ever since I found my AGM USFS lantern. He had a swing and a miss with a ruff 220j. I almost bought it just to keep him searching. But he just had more invested in than I was willing to pay. Luckily he found another buyer. But anyway we talked about what makes one more desirable. Came back 2 weeks later and he hit it out of the park I believe. As soon as I came in he gave me a holler and said he had something for me. He even had it behind the counter waiting for me. I at fist glance thought nickel 242 yay. But then seen the preheat cup and thought yeehaw. She is a 4/59 249 and not in bad shape. He was into it for good money as well. I took it home for a set of Jackson triplets. Not a screaming deal but miles ahead of epray. So I definitely have a New favorite antique dealer and possibly a new favorite lantern. She is a great runner for sure

I haven't seen one in the wild here either. I got mine from that auction site that we all love so much.

Nice! And nice to know that my B-day lantern comes in something other than all green!

Re: New favorite?
I was totally surprised by it. It must be at the end of US 249 production. The guide is saying 47 to 58 in the US. But everything looks just like the 58 pictured. Other than I clocked it wrong
. Should have taken the before pic lol.

So true. He was as excited as me. And it worked out well for both of us. Hoping he runs across more stuff soon.

Re: New favorite?
Your right about that. It doesn’t show in the cell phone pic well. As it looks a little yellow. I have one of the blue pack Egret mantles on it and it’s a retina burner in person.

Re: New favorite?
Very nice score! I have only ever came across one US 249 in the wild at a flea market. It is in great condition and I paid up a bit on it but it resides in my collection.

Nice score. Definitely one of my favs. I picked one up on the bay and it was missing parts. So, a jackson is 20$, right? I think you did well. I would have been in fire twice that.

Re: New favorite?
Yea, that would push it’s way to new favorite in my book! Sounds like a good price as well, I’d have likely paid double and still been happy.

That's the closest to mine in any color... 5/57...I was beginning to think there was a shutdown for most of 1957 at the factory. That sure is a beauty!

Yeah, all these new currencies have me confused. I'm not sure how to convert Jackson triplettes to Facebook clamspaulbarrette wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 9:44 pm Nice score. All of those dual air tube single mantles are just real rippers. Love my 242, 236, 237 and even the newer 335 and 321. Great design.

Re: New favorite?
Great find! Can not beat a 249 & only 3 Jacksons, what a deal!. Agree with Paul & LJ, would have gladly paid twice that. That is a good looking vent for a 249 also. Not sure when they quit making USA 249s, but have USA one dated 3 63. The book is great resource, but have found a couple outside the listed parameter dates.
