A Departure From The Sacred To The Profane: Canadian Twin 5419A701 Lanterns
A Departure From The Sacred To The Profane: Canadian Twin 5419A701 Lanterns
As purchased. Couldn't resist these profane lanterns, particularly when they came with these absolutely pristine cases, which I tried to buy separately, but the previous owner declined as they wanted them all kept together. As near as I can tell by examining them, the one on the left (stamped 1980) is unfired. The one on the right (stamped 1979) may have been used once or twice, but is similarly in exceptional condition.
Not sure I'll keep both lanterns, but it's tempting to hang on to at least one of them.
The metal cases - for sure I'm keeping...though I'm almost scared to use them they're so clean!
Cheers!

Nice haul. Those cases are like wow.
By the looks of the valve assembly it appears that they have the same style as the 5107 and 5114 lantern. They have a diaphram in them which make them the best adjustable lanterns in my opinion, CF or propane. I have a 5114 that is one of my favorite users for short term lighting.

Yikes, that's one of those grit your teeth moments. Likely you're not the only one who lost one that way, I'd bet.

VERY NICE scores you made, Kelly! Great cases, and those lanterns are nice, too.
I may as well admit that, back in January, I bought my first profane lantern, a nice 5107.

Thanks, everyone. It is rather amazing how many of these lanterns (and cases) seem to have been purchased 40+ years ago, likely with the best of intentions to use them on camping trips and backyard get-togethers, yet ended up not being used much, or at all!
Cheers!
