just wrecked a checkvalve
yes i did and my older checkvalve tool too,the ends broke right off so on to the sturdier model and off came the collar of the valve, so now what? the answer is nothing as it works now but will never come out unless i use an easy out but will wait till it does not work. this is on my steel fount 242 with the ceramic burner cap. it will run now. this is my first truly mangled checkvalve.

Yes, not much you can do. I’ve broken a slot tab off before but still was able to get it out. You could change your username to “Broken Checkvalve”.

Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
I mangled several before I got the tool from OCP, but none since then,(knock on wood).
Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
The tool from Ocp is great.

I'd runs as is. If the ball still seals great if not just use the stem. You would probably create more problems trying to get it out now.

Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
tell me more about this tool. is it the skinny one, which i have or the fat one which fills the pump tube, which i do not have, well i had one but the ends sheared off while using it on the steel lantern i have with the ceramic burner cap. this lantern is fueled and just needs a mantle tied on and it will burn again.
Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
It was a 1/2 inch diameter with a 1/4 inch hole thought the center that had tabs on it which was all made of steel and the threads on the one end were 1/4-32 and which fit the check valve and the other was 1/4-28 for the lock nut.

Better to wreck a check valve than a Genesis.

Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
thanks. the good thing about wrecking a checkvalve is that i am not inside it and it was not speeding.

When you get the tool, you will be able to remove them safely and easily.

Re: just wrecked a checkvalve
i have the tool but the first one broke while using it and the second broke the valve. it was my time to have a tough time as my others have been a breeze so far.
