USPS! WTH!
I usually defend the USPS as they get things delivered. However, this lantern was going from Seattle to Idaho!
Start a the bootom and read up. USPS expects delivery by Friday??? I guess they aren't through giving the lantern a tour of Eastern Washington and Central Idaho!

Yep. I ship anywhere between 30-100 hand packed items daily, all through usps. They’ve pulled some (%#*!) moments before. Your number was up, Murff

I just had an extreme opposite experience with shipping from Italy. I ordered two Wonder Pots on 3/31, and had them today. Delivered from Italy in five days! I wasn't expecting arrival until the end of the month.

I'd love to hear the reasoning for that extended trip. Looks like the package I sent to Kelly that bounced back and forth between Ontario and Alberta. It only took from December to February.
At least USPS is usually a little quicker than that.

Re: USPS! WTH!
Had that same thing happen between Texas and Indiana last summer. making round trips. I filed a complaint, and a USPS person called me and even gave me his cell number. My biggest complaint was when I went to the PO, the clerk said, "don't you watch the news? The new PMG is a jerk, so too bad, that is what you get." Of course, this was the height of the mail ballot issues, and they eliminated overtime, since they are broke and whatever other shenanigan's were going on. The USPS caller tried to get me to rat out the clerk's name or description, and I just said, I thought he was having a frustrating day, but I still wanted my purchase delivered, not his labor opinion of his boss. My local carrier, explained that with no overtime, packages could get bumped, or stay on the return truck, if not fully unloaded in time. If it was being shipped ground (old parcel post) then it was extremely low priority and all the Amazon Prime packages maybe bumped them during covid. The USPS guy never answered my call again, nor messages I left, but eventually, the package arrived about two weeks late. Fortunately, it was in better shape than I thought, and I got a heck of a deal on it.

Had the same thing happened to me but with FedEx. I had ordered a set of fuel injectors from place I deal with in Phoenix and bear mind it is exactly 115 miles door to door. these injectors ended up making a grand tour of California Nevada and Utah before they finally got to Tucson 5 days later
I never could figure out what happened. I called FedEx they didn't know either.

I had a 639 go round and round for a couple months because the sender left an old shipping label on part of the old box. I finally received the lantern eventually.

I just shipped a 150 vase lamp in two packages. Most stressful time in my life! The vase arrived in 4 days save and sound. The fount, dropped off at the exact same time, too two weeks. It arrived safe too.
I ordered some fishing stuff at the beginning of March. The company uses FedEx and haven’t seen it yet.

I've expreinced the very same. I had one that went from the shipper to one stop away from me. Then it turned around and started heading back to the shipper, stopped, and then started heading back to me again. There was no intercept on the package or anything...just wanted to take the scenic route I guess.

Re: USPS! WTH!
My issue was with UPS....for about a year, anything shipping via UPS from the Eastern half of the country would go to the Denver DC, then out for delivery, back to the Denver DC, then get shipped to the Boise DC, then delivered to me. Really annoying, as it added 1-3 days to the ship time. Anything from the West coast would ship fine, just the Eastern shipping was messed up. They eventually fixed whatever the problem was.

I think we can expect more of this problem. I'm a retired USPS guy, over 16 years now. Things have changed in hiring, pay, benefits and overall management. Up to now the package tour thing has been my experience with FedEx. Quite humorous sometimes, the route they take. With the USPS I had hoped that their problems, would amount to just a general slow down and not being in any big hurry myself, no great shakes.

Re: USPS! WTH!
the bring you wife to work day is not that far fetched. i had a friend that is a postal worker and she wanted me to ride along with her on her route, i said no as it was a little weird and i would have to hide in the back of the little truck van they use now. she wanted to be more than friends and when i said that i only wanted friendship she blamed my friend who introduced me to her and his girlfriend at the time and started to stop delivering their mail. they got behind in bills because of it. i am still friends with them but not her as she got stranger and stranger. as far as i know she is still delivering mail but am not sure. this all happened a few years ago. sometimes you meet people who seem normal but in reality they are far from it.

Re: USPS! WTH!
I ordered a couple times from a place in Arizona. Not exactly where but somewhere near Tucson. I’m in SoCal. All three times the package went to Brazil first then sat there. But I’d rather have that then when I get a UPS tracking that my package is at March Airbase (10 mi away). When we see it’s at March I automatically put in a claim because I never get it.

Re: USPS! WTH!
WTF USPS? I mailed out 22 Fuel Air posters. One got damaged, One priority letter to me with a money order never showed (they said it was mis-delivered), ya. Many took 20 days to arrive. One that did not show in 20 days, I resent using UPS at 3 times the cost and a 20 mile trip. It showed in 3 days... damaged, so I am now filing a claim. I have not used UPS in a good 30 years and they crushed it (so to speak)! Oh, and the original USPS poster showed up in 23 days undamaged of course.
In the last couple of years USPS took several weeks to ship a custom case to PA and lost another package entirely. Same person in PA sent me a globe recently on a Friday and it showed up on Monday... go figure. FedEx has lost my stuff as well.
Who ya gonna call? Postbusters?

Re: USPS! WTH!
Reminds me, wifey and I met a retired postal inspector on a recent overnight junkin trip and he said it's worse than you think. He'd seen some huge piles of packages, stuff thrown from trucks and airplane cargos. All that considering they should be on their best behavior when he's around to report it. Told me never ship ground as it will have more stops, transfers, indirect routes, and be treated the worst along the way. It's just luck of the draw as to what ends up under the fifty pounders. Recommend two day at the minimum.
Problem is you could spend 25 bucks shipping a 15 dollar item...
