Picked up a 500 Speed Master Stove today
Picked up a 500 Speed Master Stove today
Found a 2/47 Model 500 Speed Master today.
First thing that caught my eye was the original box and instruction card.
And it fired up first try.
Only my 3rd single burner stove, they’re growing on me like the lanterns.

Oh yea, you suck!
Now that’s a beauty from the past. The box is sweet and the paperwork is a big bonus. Congrats on a wonderful score!

It’s the first 500 I’ve actually seen in person.
It’s pretty big for a single burner. (Compared to the other singles I have.
Would make a great camp stove for a larger pan.

Yep. It's the perfect size for a #10 skillet.

Get a folding windscreen like in the pic if you want to cook outside. A set of home-made screens mounted to the stove (try a search fro 500 windscreen) help a lot, but you'll still benefit from the folder in a breeze.
It's priceless until someone puts a price on it.

I really enjoy seeing all these 500s recently. I use mine every summer to move the kitchen outdoors and reduce the load on my A/C. Pasta in a 6qt pot is no problem, cast iron, these things do it all. I've had to take off all my windscreens in the heat, I think the generator overheats and the flame totally detaches from the burner. Not everybody uses these things in 110 degree heat.

Nice score! And, it has the little bump out on the cast iron "U tube," where some of the Canadian versions had a threaded port for supposedly accessories to be connected with a hose.

Nice one and with nice paint too. I just got my first '59 500A last summer. It will heat up a Coleman oven to 430 degrees. 7500 BTUs.

'Grob' : That frame which your oven is sitting on - did you make it or buy it ? Especially just clears the top of that 500 stove.
Any details ? Aluminium legs ? height, length width, etc. I see it's demountable, collapsable, and puterawayable.

Paul, I made it out of threaded rods, connector nuts and rivet nuts. Adjusts up and down by threading the rods. Here is the whole scoop.
