Talk about a stroll down memory lane, Bill! Although I was born at the end of that decade, I’m quite familiar with everything in that video. We ‘experienced’ folks have seen a lot of changes in this world. I sure miss those times.....

Born in '49. Other than Truman, 50's segregation (never much problem where I grew up) and "duck and cover" (never practiced that in school) ...... been there and/or done that for everything else.
I feel sorry for the "kids" growing up in the atmosphere of the '10s and '20s of the 21st century.

Did I see Flip Wilson (Jeraldine) at 3:57? Lots of memories there, some before my time, but I recognized most everything.

So ...... you either act wise or elderly ..... which is it?
Real'49s have a touch of both, but see the wisdom decreasing and the elderly increasing ..... HELP!

I liked that. I knew almost everything in that flick, except for a couple of things that may have been back east exclusive.
I remember Speedy the Alka-Seltzer kid so well. He went well into the 60s, before the "Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is" jingle came out.
Ed Sullivan was on when I was a kid. That's 60s too. (I'm a mid 50s baby).
It was neat that I knew all the cars/vehicles in the clip. Now, cars are either really cool looking (Camero, Mustang) or look like jelly beans and you can't tell them apart. You could sure tell a Buick Roadmaster when you saw one!
Thanks for the vid.

I'm with mksmith. Born in the late 60s but identify with the 50s. It was not an idlylic time time, particularly if you were an ethnic minority or female, but post WWII I think it was a time when people were generally more self-reliant, and were pretty assured that things were going to continually improve. Not sure anyone believes that today.
