Received my Coleman Light today--no patches

#1

Post by REJ2 »

Having a couples subscription I normally receive two patches with the May issue, I got none. Probably a good reason, no? I did not read the issue yet, first thing I look for is the patches. Have I lost my mind?

Yes, it’s probably with the patches! 🤣
So sorry Bob but I couldn’t resist! I look forward to the patches as well. Like you said, probably a good reason.

What does the patch look like?. Do we get a new one every issue/year? I only have the one that came with my membership subscription...no patches after that.

You get a year patch in the #2 issue that comes out in May only. Not in every issue.

If you receive a newsletter with no patches, email me at "icccsec@intlccc.net". Please do not send me a pm here, I would like to keep my ICCC business all in one place where I can keep track of it better.

If you haven't received your May Light, please be patient, the USPS is very slow these days. It took more than 2 months for the January issue to stop arriving at members addresses. This is completely out of our hands and I am sorry to say that I cannot send you a replacement until I feel that yours is truly lost. With every issue, people email me saying they haven't received their newsletter yet. I usually ask them to wait another 3 weeks even though I know that's not much fun. When I follow up, almost all of them have received their copy by then. Generally there are only about 3-5 members who never receive their copy out of the 550+ copies that get sent out.

John, hats off to ya for all that you do. It's got to be a major pain in the neck at times. I'll hold off until October before I say anything about my May issue if it doesn't show up. ;)

Thanks for having our backs John. I recall the fiasco you went through at the time the Herb Ebendorf book was sent along with the 120 year Coleman anniversary patch. You've always come through to make things right.
I received my Coleman Light, with patch yesterday. Single membership, delivered in southern California.

Received my newsletter today and want to say, foremost, AWESOME ISSUE!

A cover story on funnels that updates/expands upon the Sept-Dec 2006 funnel article; followed by a single-burner stove article; followed by the Petty Bureaucrat's latest "My Favorite Stove This Week" article?

:cf_woohoo:

Seriously, this issue is fantastic, and I offer my sincere thanks/appreciation to Stendahl, Murff, (Bud) Michael and Rugotzke (and anyone else involved in making this issue happen).

Next, I received one patch with my issue -- the 2021 member version. Always fun!

Finally, as I review my ever-growing collection of member patches, I humbly ask: Isn't it time to feature something other than a lantern? Once or twice a decade, perhaps?

Got mine over the weekend and did not get time to look in detail as I was somewhat otherwise occupied with a certain web forum not working...
Came with the patch too, and I am very thankful for the articles, the editor and the contributors. Maybe one day I should write something about collecting in Europe, but no promises!

Yes, I agree. Something other than a lantern or lamp would be nice. That is up to the President though, the patch design is his job, but he might be willing to give throw us stovies a bone next year!

Is it safe to say these do not all get mailed out the same day?

I’m assuming they are being sent out by a volunteer(s) so knowing the above would make some (at least me) feel much better!
BTW I am not mad just curiously frustrated.
Thank you!

The newsletters are sent out by the print shop that prints them. They are probably sent out bulk mail, presorted, which makes it a low priority. They get sent out to a big regional office, then to the local PO's...they are the last thing delivered. It seems that last time around there were areas that received them late at the same time, like the Chicago/mid-Illinois area.

When you renew late, that's when a grumpy volunteer has to send it out. He's even grumpier if he emailed a warning a month before the newsletter went out and the renewal was still put off until this thread came along and then the memory was sparked into action.

Grumpy Volunteer... Sounds like a 90's alternative band.

John is affable, hardly grumpy.

Glad to hear issues are getting out. Its been a bit of a helpless feeling these last couple as I get it off to Schuster's, they do their wonderful thing, and then it is up to the snail mail. Hate seeing trouble with deliveries.

Friendly reminder that I'm always seeking content, so email me if you've got any ideas!
It'll buff out.

Re: Received my Coleman Light today--no patches

Ian, due to the decreasing incidence figures we're allowed to meet with 5 persons from two households again.
The campgrounds seem to be open again also but I'm not sure about the facilities.
There is another annual German meet coming up next week since June 3rd is a holiday and some folks will make it a long weekend.
I've not yet decided if I/we will go since I usually camp and the weather was very unpleasant recently. May be I'll go as a day visitor. Would at least be a great chance to meet again. :)

I’m still patiently on the newsletter Bob. Hope the patch is in it when it arrives. I really like the Coleman Light and am looking forward to receiving mine. Appreciate all the contributions and all those involved in getting it out.

Still waiting for my Light too, always at the bottom of the list here in the middle, always a good month or more after mailing starts if we get it at all and have to contact John S. for him to mail a copy.
