Werner, aside from you having the trip of a lifetime--and I'm jealous--you need a Bug-A-Salt gun. Just take my word for it, buy one. Model III is the one to have.

I think a badminton racquet would be a better replacement for a fly swatter.

So far I have gone through Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and North Florida. Every place has had a flavour. This country is immense.

The place at Indian Point in Mississippi had me puzzled, felt like a place with a deep presence, a camping place with a mix between a religious and military past, hard to ignore the feel. Nothing to indicate that, but I swear the place has a lot of ghosts. Im weird that way.

Camped at Saint Agustine last night, walked the old town and the fortress, it is the first city in continental US, very nice place. A little windy and cool weather. Today I am exploring titusville and Cape Canaveral, a friend of my sister is a realtor and we will be looking for a place to rent while I get my gig going. The dogs have behaved stellar the whole 10 days traveling, the cat kept insisting on lasagna and escaped four times, but comes with treats...so she is still with us.

Werner! Is the fort in St. Agustine cool or what? Those walls are made of millions upon millions of fossilized coquina shells. They were mined on an island and transported there as I remember but what was really cool is that they ABSORBED cannon balls... unreal. And have you ever seen so many iron cannons? They have so many they use them in the parking lots for barriers... crazy.. Sounds like you are having one heck of good time! I'm jealous man....

I have seen a lot more cannons in the Real Felipe fortress in Callao Peru, it was the second largest fortress second only to Panama, that place housed 1500 troops to defend Lima Peru, which at the time was the capital of the viceroyalty in South america... If you ever go there, it is impressive ( it still is in use as a military fort, 490 years of use) And yes, I noticed the seashells in the rock, and figured out it must have acted like a sponge to absorb balls, very clever. The place is very well kept.

Here is something about the Real Felipe.

3200 miles traveled, now Im hunting for a rental home. Yesterday we went to see the Kennedy space center, where is possible I'll be working. Just to smell the neighborhood.

Most of the time we just found campsites by ear, when we got tired of driving we just used google maps. Tonight we will make a simple thanksgiving dinner. Have steak, mashed potatoes and gravy.

It seems that lake is for serious fishing. I may visit it again in the future.
