How does one lose a lantern? I mean a fairly large, unusual lantern that I fixed up less than two months ago?

This one:

Image

All I can remember is that I found a handy place to keep it out of danger that wasn't already full of GPAs. Been looking on and off for an hour now.....

This is driving me nuts.

It's also highlighting two problems I currently have:

1) So many GPAs that I have to find creative places to store them.

B) Having failed in my life goal of dying young.

Pretty sure I didn't put it on the roof of the Van, as I can't reach it. I've never sat anything there and drove off.

I'm looking in places I never would have put it now. Still no joy, and I have a potential purchaser for it who will only be in town today and tomorrow.

Absolutely no room in my cabin, so it has to be here somewhere.....

I suggest having a couple cold ones and start wandering around, it might just come back to you. And if not, at least you’ll be feeling a little better!

Timm, have you looked at Terminal Gravity? I know you have lanterns stashed there as well, lots of places to hide them there. And they serve cold ones and that could have helped you to hide it from yourself.

Steve, I hear you, man!

Erik, I have only co-workers (as we cal them now) to blame, but that's usually tools. The management still won't let me hang just one employee with a card around their neck saying "I didn't return a tool to Timm's shop".

Chuck--Four Freds? That's almost a crime!

LJ, I'm sure I had some clever comeback, but can't recall what we were talking about. Which is also why this lantern has gone missing.

Tom, I'm at TG. That's where my shop is. But, technically, it's not my shop.

Thanks for the super-helpful advice, folks. I'll search every nook and cranny when I get back to the cabin, too. I do have a storage shed there that I just recovered access to after the local punk Super-Glued all the locks closed.

I should note that I'm finding some other pretty cool stuff. Pics to follow!

That's what the guy who wants to buy them thinks they fit.

6 3/8 " at the rim of the fitter side. Or maybe 164mm.

Anyhow, that would be a sweet lantern to own, and I'll do what I can to help.

I had an anniversary lantern, the one with multi logo globe and "Coleman" spelled out in the frame rest. In a fit of responsibility, I decided to reduce my collection and sold/traded it away. A couple of years later as I had realized it was a mistake, I had opportunity to pick a storage shed 40 miles away, paid up for another one and brought home, or so I thought. When I went to take it to my office display, it was gone. Gone like it never existed. All the other stuff was accounted for, but the lantern was not. I retraced my tracks several times, called my fellow pickers, and even called the PO back. No luck. Gone, gone gone.

Four years later, getting ready for ICCC in Walnut Creek this year I was choosing what to take for the display table I had. I have a lot of custom and interesting cases, so set about five or six down to consider. One was an A&F case from the previous convention in Walnut Creek. I was not sure what lantern was in it, so opened up to see. Lo and Behold- there was the missing lantern.

I then recalled I had put it there in the best protective box I had so as to not lose it again.!

Found it, and suspect you will find yours, and it all make perfect sense when you do.

Finally! I spent the morning looking everywhere--I drove about 15 miles to make sure it wasn't where it shouldn't be, checked out every possible storage space (a lot of sheds and shipping containers) at TG... I looked under beds; I looked under tables. I looked in cupboards; I looked in abandoned vehicles next to the road....

Then I needed to get something out of the boiler room of my shop.

Image

See it?

Look closer:

Image

Talk about places it shouldn't be! I never store any thing flammable or containing flammables in the boiler room with a 1.25M BTU propane burner running.

But it's found!
