Shade id

#1

Post by ecblanks »

Saw this shade today. It has the same style as the white one on my CQ, but it felt really odd. First, it was pristine.
Second, the paint job was not smooth at all, felt like a rattle can job.
Lastly the bottom edge of it was very rough. I left it, but for the price im thinking i should have grabbed it anyway. Thoughts?

It’s a replica. Bottom rim should not be that wide. Plus they were not painted to my knowledge.

That's what I figured, but didn't know that replicas were a "thing". Are they ok users?

Leacock used to sell painted 329 replicas... I don't remember that one in particular, but I'd bet that's where it came from. Would be a good user shade if the price is right.

It was $5. I'll probably go back and try to grab it. my only other shade is held together with super glue.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Dictionary
in·con·ceiv·a·ble

adjective
adjective: inconceivable

not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally; unbelievable.

It is exactly what i think it means...

I will put in a sentence if that helps you.
It is inconceivable that you walked away from a beautiful five dollar shade.

Hope it's still there when you go back, I once left a cremlite shade behind only because I couldn't figure out how to get shipped back to Calif. from Montana. I should have bought it and put it in my luggage. arrrrrrrrrr

A nice looking shade and for only $5, who cares who made it or when? I have more lamp shades than lamps, but only one is a Coleman which honestly does nothing for me. All others are shades that I think look very nice. I hope it's still there when you go back.

Nice shade for sure. If you don't like the paint I'm sure something will take it off. Leacock gets $80ish after shipping for the same thing only all white.

If the super glued shade was $5 I'd grab that too. I have a couple that have blown the top ring off and made a sull thud before gluing and are fine now. That flowerd one will be pretty with light inside.

Are you in the island?

If it does nothing for you, you won't feel too bad leaving it. However, it is a heck of a price and can at least clothe a nekkid lamp. :)

My wife went with me to the ReStore today and was not at all surprised that the shade was still there. AND it was on sale! (but I rounded back up to $5 for donation)
Fit like a glove.
