Pardon my ignorance

#1

Post by DanM »

What is a Sunshine Safety 6 lantern, that is what the string tag indicates. Can't see any markings, looks like around the 1920s vintage. Not sure I ever seen one before. Is it a stand alone or does it have some pedigree. Thanks.

Looking through Neil's PLC it shows Nulite produced Sunshine Safety lamps from 1916-1923. It would make sense that they made their lanterns in the same time frame. Like Steve mentioned, it should be stamped sunshine somewhere.

I have two of those 5MW. One has no markings and a plated steel vent, the other is stamped Nulite on the pump knob and has a plated brass vent.

Calling the company Nulite is actually lazy and I do it as well 'cos it's snappier but strictly speaking Nulite was an Acorn Brass brand name which National Stamping acquired in 1914 when they bought out Acorn. So Nulite was always a brand name and never the name of a manufacturing company. ::Neil::
