Another LZ joins the fleet

#1

Post by Tgarner01 »

Done some horse trading with another collector to acquire this crusty ole LZ. Fount was cracked on it. Fortunately period correct unmarked Coleman founts are identical and I had several here at the shop to choose from. I grabbed one from the pile I picked up over the weekend that had a trashed frame and swapped the LZ uppers over to it. Really cleaned up nicely. I couldn't be more happy to add it to the collection. Now to find a nicer 427 😁

Looks good. Great job on the restoration. How large is the fleet?
Thanks,
Dan

You are lucky it is a 327. A fount swap wouldn't work on a 427. Even if you used another 427, the non-flower pump would be a dead give away.

Trust me I know this predicament... The LZ427 I have photoed is in need of a fount. I have it patched, but I would like to replace it some day. The pump itself is easy enough to swap, but the fount is the dead giveaway... Most 427's were side stamped... I located a really nice unmarked 427 fount that I had planned to swap with this one, but I figure an unmarked Coleman 427 is a much more uncommon model 😁

Dan, sorry I missed your question earlier. To be honest I haven't a clue... There is probably 250 (give or take 25) lamps/lanterns in the back room of the shop... A couple dozen single burner stoves... It's an ever evolving collection 😁 I've had a couple purges, but the shelves always fill back in it seems... Then I have my overflow shed of GPA and parts.... Geez this hobby is addicting 😳
