Thank you Angus!

You Canadian guys need to drop ship a bunch of these south of the border to lowly American CCF members! Something on the order of 213 of them, to be exact. I have another blue 321 and I want my #244!

Not to completely screw the system, but just noticed there appears to be 2 people claiming #18, myself and Wildbirder.

Considering how difficult it would be to fix at this point, maybe we just split #18 into an A and B?

Bill, no one has taken #31 or #32 yet. You can wait, and risk getting #34, or take #31. It's all yours if you act now, for the low, low price of $0.00!!!

But that's not all! Along with your personal number, you also get the adulation of your fellow Canadian Blues membership, friendship for life, and invitations to gatherings of Canadian blue Coleman lanterns everywhere!

And Steve is the holder of #34! 2 331s and a 621 or a 621A? Nice grab. How come the 331 on the left has a no. 4 globe, and a 3-piece fuel cap?

Coleman Bill is #35...

Wade, in answer to your question, our American brethren love the Canadian Blue lanterns, 'cause Wichita never made any. Not a single one. Strictly Canadian, and only between 1973 and 1977. After that, the 321/325 series was green, and the 621/625 was brown. The 331, they just stopped making. The only other blue lantern in Coleman history was the 443 and 443A, made between 1934? and the mid-40s?-ish, which was American.

In short, because they are different!

Gearhead:

No, Coleman Toronto made its own 200 from 1950 to the late 60s, and then a hybrid 200/200A (said 200 on the collar, but 200A on the box), which was discontinued in 1970. In 1973, Coleman Toronto launched the Easi-Lite line (after a brief flirtation with the idea of resurrecting the "Quicklite" brand), in a 300 cp (the 321 series) and in a 500 cp series, the 621, and a hybrid of the two series, a 331. All were single mantles, and started off with a faulty schrader valve with bad o-rings. That was abandoned by the time they hit "C". Roland Chevalier has a really good photo essay on the evolution of the Easi-Lites (which we euphemistically call the "Easi-Blows").

The first models in the 321 and 621 series were blue, up to the first few 621Bs, and to the 321A. The 321B was green, and the later 621Bs were brown. The easi-lites morphed into the 325 and 625 series in 1985, and finished with the 325A and the 625A, arguably the most functional and versatile lanterns Coleman Canada ever made (they were dimmable, and reliable, and really easy to work on). Ironically, just as these lanterns were starting to be produced, Coleman Canada was shut down when the Coleman family lost control of the company in 1989.

This is a chapter that SHOULD have been in the new ICCC book, but it was already big, so I understand why it wasn't. 1983 to 1989 needs an Addendum to the ICCC Book, for both Wichita and Toronto, and I think the latest lanterns deserve a look for the 1989 to present. That would be a much smaller book, though.

Wait a minute! There's something wrong with this picture! For us collectors in Florida, we'll never possibly ever see a Canadian blue, and so we're barred from the syndicate. I think that's discrimination. Maybe we'll start a rusty 220 club, since that's most of what we see around here, and we won't let you guys in.

Either that, or you guys should put a couple of those blues in the classifieds to spread the wealth.

Okay not really totally original. Decal was missing when I got it. I cleaned the glue residue off and was thinking about getting a decal but maybe not? We'll see...
