How do you know you don’t have any pressure? You don’t hear anything when you open the valve?
You can’t feel pressure when you pump?
No fuel or air comes out of the gen tip?

My mistake: Filled fount with fuel. Turned the closed pump plunger 2 turns to the Lt. Counter clockwise. Pumped 10-15 times. Then turned the plunger clockwise to close. No resistance was ever felt while pumping. Tried pumping it up some more. No resistance. New burnt mantle never caught fire. I think the check ball valve is stuck and yes, I opened the fuel control knob while lighting. Know any tricks on how to unstick the ball. "A Seabee": LOL. I enjoyed ur advice on not trying to over think working on my lantern. I just don't want to screw anything up. I just want to get her running again. I want to hear the roar. Thx for the help fellow Colemanites.

I have been trying to follow this thread. Did you happen to pull the fuel valve out of the fount? If you did, did you happen the make sure the FA tube is good and clean and not plugged up with old fuel and varnish? If you pump up the lantern and crack the fuel cap do you hear pressure escaping ?

My check valve track record was dismal until I bought the removal tool from OCP. now, at the first sign of trouble, I take the valve out and give it a few minutes in the harbor freight ultrasonic tank with lime juice and water. They come out good as new.
No resistance on the pump? The leather is probably shrunk too far. Sometimes you can just work the oil inti the leather with your fingers and stretch it back out to get a little more life out of them

"Then turned the plunger clockwise to close. No resistance was ever felt while pumping."

Typical issue is a leaking/bad pump cup, or maybe the pump needle valve has been removed and not put back in.

UPDATE: 1967 Milspec Coleman 252 Lantern. I got her running today. She runs like new. Except you have to pump up more pressure quite often to keep her running. I took the pump/rod assembly out. Sprayed carb cleaner down the pump tube. Layed the lantern on it's side with pump tube facing up and let the cleaner soak in. After awhile I started hearing some gurgling at the check valve opening. Drained rest of cleaner out and shook/tapped the lantern some. Put on a new Genny and removed the copper plug from the air intact base. Lit right up. I would like to say Thank you to all the people on CCF for their help and advise on how to get my lantern running again. Thx a million! I appreciate it!

Send a copy to your email in medium size. Then download it back to your phone and use that

The FAQ section in the forum has picture posting post. I take pictures with my cell phone and email them to myself. I get a size option when doing this, and the smallest size usually fits the forum requirements.

Thxs for posting the photo and the awesome reviews. It makes me think about all the Vietnam Veterans that might have used a lantern like this one. The Proud sense of Service/Sacrifses they did for the South Vietnamese people and our Country! Thxs! Welcome Home Vietnam Vet!
