junior size lanterns that spin right onto senior size founts
Hello All,
I've asked lots of questions about building frankenlanterns and have yet to try it, that trend continues here. I was just reading about the model 249 with the slightly leaky fount. Seeing that, if the owner would be happy with such, the fount could be replaced with one from a 220F or a 295 inspires a new question for the experts. What junior size lantern valves use the larger 1/2"-32 tapered thread? I'd much prefer not to make irreversible changes like drilling, reaming and re-tapping a fount or valve if I can get items that thread together right like they are.
249's are scarce here in the US, correct? I would like to make a 242/200A frankenlantern and that fits my criteria but what little lanterns will spin right onto a 32 ounce fount?

The 249 is the only small lantern I'm aware of that uses the 1/2 32 tapered thread.

Thanks Toby, it was a question worth asking.

Here's another one worth asking. Can the valve stem and wheel from a 200A be substituted in the valve bodies of lanterns like 242 and 249?
Thanks again,
Matt
Thanks again,

Matt, it’ll work for a 242, but the 249 is different altogether—skinnier stem.
