Lewiston Idaho Gathering

#1

Post by Legs »

The spring 2023 Lewiston Idaho gathering for Pacific Northwest Coleman Collectors will be held May 6 at Hells Gate State Park on the Snake River, just five miles south of Lewiston. We have a covered picnic area reserved (but it will be sunny and warm) that has a table, a charcoal grill and close in parking, shelter # S-3. Of course, you may conveniently park your boat on the beach to attend and avoid the vehicle fee to enter the park, however, if you insist on driving the park has a day use fee, per vehicle, of $7 for Idaho Plates and $14 for out of state plates. But don't let that entry fee deter you, as we will gladly cover that cost for you if you cannot afford it. Just send me a private message and we will make arrangements.

This will be a short, one day affair starting at 11 AM and ending at 3 PM. A lunch of hot dogs will be served and feel free to bring any accompaniments. Beverages are BYOB. As noted there is a charcoal grill on site. Bring your favorite comfy camp chair if you wish, as picnic tables can be tough on one's derierre.

It will be great to see all the local collectors, as well as those that will be traveling from afar. Camping is available at this state park and there is plenty of alternative lodging around Lewiston (Google is your friend). There a great deal to see in the area, as well as a lot of history, so plan to spend some time to explore.

Lastly, RSVP if you can so we have an idea of attendance. It would be nice also if we could come to a group consensus for a larger gathering later in the summer or fall and what will it consist of. Don't forget to bring some trade items, and above all have fun and enjoy the company of others whom are inflicted with the Coleman bug.

Hope to see you there...!

Don S.

As the time for this gets closer, I'd appreciate it if someone would remind me about traffic lights and how they work!

There are no traffic lights in Wallowa county, and it's been a while since I've seen one.

Look forward to seeing you all and meeting some new folks!

All jokes aside. When you live in a remote area long enough as we did, you actually do have to relearn driving skills.
No more cruising gravel roads @ 20 mph without a care in the world. Now I have to be careful not to create a line behind me.

Traffic lights are a lot like riding a bike. It's the traffic circles you'll need to worry about. Coming from Enterprise, you'll have to navigate a figure 8 traffic circle that I've got lost on twice (for real). If you're not used to the traffic circles, you're likely to get boomeranged right back to Enterprise.

March 6- Our gathering is now two months out and on track for a bang up time. I'll send out a PM reminder about another 30 days to those whom have expressed interest.
To make this event more fun and interesting I will be bringing some raffle prizes so most will go home with a little something more than fine memories.
Teaser..... I am still unpacking from my move 14 months ago, but I have come across several duplicates of GPA in my collection that I will be bring for sale or trade. Stay tuned for a detailed list in about a month, but here is a photo of a cabinet full of singles that I will select a few from. I'll have twin mantle units, and of course the ever popular stoves, will be at Hells Gate May 6 also. No early sales or reserves of my GPA.... Must attend.

Howdy, y'all!

I'm not sure of the etiquette for this sort of thing, but thinking of starting a thread over at JB for "Wheelin' and Dealin' at Lewiston". A place to show some of the goodies we plan to bring, just to whet each other's appetites and let folks be prepared. Plus, migh attract some attention to the gathering if we have some hot goodies that are only available there....

Just a thought and wanted to know what y'all think.

PS: I'm looking for a roof rack and basket for the Toyota Corolla '93 FB. I'd like to bring more goodies, but that thing has the cargo capacity of the average lady's purse.

I was just going to list my trade goods here, but you're right, it would get wider readership in the JB section. Regarding your car's hauling capacity, if you don't find a suitable roof rack, the smallest U-Haul trailers are only $15/day. Alternatively, if you'd make two trips, you're welcome to store a load at my place, and then I would haul it to Lewiston for the gathering. Better yet, I'd meet you at the Grande Ronde and bring your first load home for storage until the gathering. The final option - I could probably be convinced to make a junk store run to your vicinity, and return with a load of your stock for the gathering. Any excuse to visit the Grande Ronde or Enterprise.

Timm, good idea. Feel free to post a teaser of your pleasure over in Just Bull. Your items, your sale... May want to copy over to this thread as a way to track the doings of this gathering. I find posts in JB tend to sink and disappear within a week or less.

Here's the thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37938

Post 'em if you got 'em! Special pieces only, please--we'll all be bringing some commons, no doubt.

Hope this will lure in a few fresh fish....
